As the year comes to a close for many of you, many of you are ready to be done with school now. But make it interesting…
Below is a list of school subjects you are probably all used to. Some of these you prefer to do without and some you really do actually like. Why is that? Most of us would blame the teacher of course. Chances are it is probably the teacher and your just not meshing well together. That’s life as it is anyway where there are people in your life you just will not like, but have to.
Let’s think about classes you take and how YOU do in it. Do you enjoy the subject matter? As a senior in high school if you were to pick your top three classes (academic…no gym or lunch) as an assessment, which ones would you choose? Think about your entire high school career as you do this. It is really important that as you consider what career you might want to focus on in college. That’s why it is important to think of and incorporate your own classroom experiences. If you don’t like math and it is because you are just not a numbers person, that’s okay. But I would not consider Accounting or a career that is really into numbers. Look at something else. Perform the process of elimination.
One of the things I wish for all of you is to dig deep inside yourself and find your talents. Seek out what you are good at and figure out why. Now, some of you are really good in business-type classes. Or maybe you test well and get your homework done a lot quicker and with less stress in History because you actually enjoy it. Well there is something in that, that you are good with. You have to find that yourself, or communicate this with your instructor.
I found a couple websites that I highly recommend for you to look at. O*NET Online and Bureau of Labor Statistics. Two extremely capable websites that will provide you with the most accurate and up to date information regarding all sorts of careers, and wanted to give you all with a list of jobs and careers that tie right into these school subjects. This might be your path to figuring out several talents and skills that you have.
These are certainly not all jobs, but I wanted to at least “wet your taste buds” so you can get a general idea of the kinds of jobs you would most likely enjoy based on what you like to do now in school. You are also not tied to this. This is simply what I have researched and feel is a great fit with regard to talents and skills for that job.
