As your school year drones on, most of you are counting down the days to Christmas break, and then to the end of high school. Keep going, it really is kind of fun…below is a list of how you can find some great interest in your classes, while tagging them to the career of choice.
For example, I love to speak. Find something you enjoy in class…I’m not talking about the boy or girl next to you :). Find the classes you currently take and how they are so relevant to the career you plan to choose. Any class I can take that allows me to speak and refine my oral communication skills
School is school and there’s nothing you can do about it. I know it sucks…believe me twenty years ago I felt the same way. But I’m still breathing and there are many things I would have done different to enhance my career and make the kind of money and success I planned. But a lot of these things were all tagged to attitude.
Change your attitude about school and you will see and feel change for the better. Check out this list below of classes that I compiled and the kinds of college majors and careers that are tagged to these courses. Some of these you prefer to do without and some you really do actually like. Why is that? Most of us would blame the teacher of course. Chances are it is probably the teacher and your just not meshing well together.
Think about classes you take and how YOU do in it. Do you enjoy the subject matter? As a student in high school if you were to pick your top three classes (academic…no gym or lunch) as an assessment, which ones would you choose? Think about your entire high school career as you do this. It is really important that as you consider what career you might want to focus on in college. That’s why it is important to think of and incorporate your own classroom experiences.
If you don’t like math and it is because you are just not a numbers person, that’s okay. But I would not consider Accounting or a career that is really into numbers. Look at something else. Perform the process of elimination.
I found a list of school subjects from Bureau of Labor Statistics and wanted to give you all with a list of jobs and careers that tie right into these school subjects. This might be your path to figuring out several talents and skills that you have.
These are certainly not all jobs, but I wanted to at least “wet your taste buds” so you can get a general idea of the kinds of jobs you would most likely enjoy based on what you like to do now in school. You are also not tied to this. This is simply what I have researched and feel is a great fit with regard to talents and skills for that job. This is NOT an entire list, just jobs and careers that ranked most interesting.

This is just a sample list, but one of the things I wish for all of you is to dig deep inside yourself and find your talents. Seek out what you are good at and figure out why. Now, some of you are really good in business-type classes. Or maybe you test well and get your homework done a lot quicker and with less stress in History because you actually enjoy it. Well there is something in that, that you are good with. You have to find that yourself, or communicate this with your instructor.
There are a lot of jobs out there in the world that need certain skills a talents, and if you have an interest and are good (even just at a couple of things), that is enough for you to realize the opportunities you deserve.
