Will you love your job?

Weird question right? Maybe not for some of you…

I love my job so much because 99% of it requires me to talk and I like to talk. But the more I do it, the more I become an effective communicator, so it’s all beneficial. It took me a little while to initially understand just how important my likes/dislikes and skills and talents play into my career work and success. But, what I didn’t realize was the form of higher education I could have received.

Now granted, I graduated college many years ago so the types and forms of education is a lot more diverse than it was when I was in college (prior to 1996).

There are a number of options…

Nowadays you have so many options! Colleges and universities across the globe offer so many alternative ways of education and I’m not just talking about online based education, but the kind of education that I’m willing to bet many of you would prefer:

As you know, and I will provide in more detail in my next post, that there are basically four types of higher education institutions:

Public University or College

Private Colleges

Community/Junior Colleges

Vocational Schools

These schools are different because of the general way they do things like academic offerings, number of degrees, cost of tuition, scholarships available, and variety of other programs and services. However, each of these types of institutions is making it easier and more convenient for you to attend higher education and earn a degree without disrupting much of your life in any major way.

Too many of my friends that are slightly younger than me are attending Brown Mackie College because of the way the school provides its scheduling. BUT, these friends of mine would have never looked into unless we happened to speak about school.

Why is it that you delay in getting that degree?

Don’t…just do it. Ask questions and find the right type of school for you.

What are your current needs and concerns right now?

Can you address them and resolve those?

Learn by doing…or is it do by learning…?

Something I realized though in my job is the dire need for students to learn-by-doing and/or do-by-learning…more hands-on practical applications. There is a trend out there and a new wave of education that is tailored to YOUR interests and needs. Many of you have the skills to learn in a more hands-on environment instead of the standard classroom.

Many schools through the country offer a more hands-on approach to education. All you have to do is ask. 🙂

Ask, ask, ask…

Ask admissions, financial aid, career services, students services are just a few of the offices and advisers with whom you should be in touch.

Over the past couple of years I have emphatically stressed the need for you to truly understand 3 steps in choosing the kinds of careers that fit you, Forget the personality surveys and all, just check out what I wrote in various methods and forms to illustrate some pretty easy and great ways for YOU to choose the right career. The key to finding the right career is all in you.

Empower yourself…

Check out this primary article that contains several other strategies I wrote about regading making the right career choices. Check it out. If this interests you, and you have some skills, go to college and let them enhance the skills you already have.
