LIST TWO: 2010 NATIONAL COLLEGE FAIR DATES

Below is my second installment of college fair dates throughout the nation. Most of these were checked out by me and seemed legit. But it is up to you to make sure of the appropriate times, dates and costs for attending (if any).

Be prepared!

Use these college fairs as a sort of initial screening process…

Screen the potential colleges. Ask the same questions, and only as a few questions. Write them down. If you are interested while speaking with the rep., then get the info or fill out the card they give you.

Use the same list of questions you would ask to any college at these fairs. It helps you to be fair with your choice and fair to yourself. Questions that can help you to make immediate decisions as to whether or not you want to get information.

Here are some questions to consider:

1. Do you offer degrees in _________________,  __________________,  and _____________________ ?

2. How big is your school, and typical class size?

3. What is your tuition structure? How much is tuition, student fees, books, room and board and other fees associated with my degree?

4. Do you have a career services department? How does it function? What specific services do you provide to students?

5. Do you offer government financial aid (FAFSA)? What other financing options does your school offer…scholarships, grants, in-school work-study?

6. What types of extracurricular activities does your school offer?

It’s okay if you get a lot of mail from colleges. Just chuck the stuff you don’t want. It will eventually stop. But take that information to at least consider all of your options.

Take a look at these and check into them to see which ones are near you.

Something else I found…

Providence College was kind enough to publish a list of all the college fairs that will have one of their representatives. I love this list! BUT it’s huge, so check it out Providence College PC Perspectives and locate your state, and the school and take note of the date. BUT be sure to double-check on these. Call the school visit the library, go online and make sure of the details of the fair.

So there you go. I will continue to research other college fairs available and post them as I gather a list. If any of YOU have any, please comment back to me or send me an email. I love to share!
