Can you imagine waking up everyday, excited about going to work? Can you even fathom the idea of doing a job, and not even get paid for? Many people feel that way.

You can to. Follow these simple exercise questions. Answer them when you are only focusing on you. Consider these as road signs to help you along your journey of career exploration.

  • Consider your EXTRINSIC factors, (those that satisfy external needs) and your INTRINSIC factors (those that satisfy deeper personal needs)

  • List your outstanding attributes and qualities. Think about the good things about yourself ad why they are qualities you hold. There are talents that you can apply to your career search.

  • Then, think of someone you know, and list THEIR outstanding attributes. What is it about them that you admire? Respect? Consider a quality or attribute?

  • What subjects in school do you or did you enjoy most?

Now, try this.

Take a sheet of paper out and draw a line down the middle of the page.  On the left side, list EVERUTHING that would make you so happy in a job. With regard to your CAREER you’ve chosen what would be your definition of a perfect job? List these out from top to bottom. Now revisit this list, and for each one, mark a “Y” or an “M.” “Y” means YES it can be done. It is possible. The “M” means that is can MAYBE be done or accomplishable. There are no NO’s on this list.
