You start here…Are you getting ready?

Take a look at this picture. Check out this road and its slight curves winding down, passing by colorful and diverse trees and foliage. The road turns on up to the left and keeps going, but you can’t see anything past the trees far off in the distance.

PICTURE IT

…can you imagine this? Take some time to stare at this pic, and absorb yourself in the knowledge that your CAREER life is truly a journey.

Capture the flow of the road. It looks smooth from this picture look, but certainly it has its faults, potholes, cracks and bumps. So do we.

BELIEVE ME ON THIS ONE

…my own CAREER journey has had its ups and downs, turns and curves, and even sometimes the occasional ‘road kill’. I had so many different jobs in my short professional life, but learned so much and was very successful. I went through a lot and have enjoyed the ride most of the time. Because I am more experienced, well-versed and traveled, proud of my talents and happy that I’ve had the journey I’ve had for now, because it helped me to realize that there are so many of us that go through this same CAREER trip. But its okay to experience a lot and vanquish all the knowledge you can.

Think about those times you were driving down just the worst road ever, right? Full of potholes, broken pavement, cracks, whetever…trying to avoid as many bumps and holes as you can but, find yourself clutching on to the crap on your front seat from bouncing around, while handling the wheel avoiding the worst of it.

DO YOU SEE IT IN YOUR CAREER LIFE?

…can you see your own journey through this picture? Do you feel like life might be or is filled with curves and turns, some sharp and unknowing, others broad and foreseeable. Beyond the visual image of this picture, there are many more peaks and valleys and the basic unknown.

This is life. It is my life, our life, everyone’s life.

Nobody’s life is just perfect with everything right, straight smooth, flat road.

Even the distance beyond in this picture illustrates that what we don;’t see beyond, we should not worry about…until we approach it. Why not wait until we get there? Focus on today. Focus on YOU.

 Okay so incorporate this in your CAREER choice…and CAREER life. Why Life? Well, when choosing a career, you are possibly choosing something that you will be doing for the rest of your working life…45-50 years. Yes, that’s right 45-50 years is what most people work before they think about retirement. Sucks right? Sure some of you will get that luck. But most of us will have to work that long

Your CAREER journey has a lot of similarities to this pic and even though there are some unforeseeable curves, turns, peaks, valleys, anything that associates, the more prepared you are, the more you will know.
